Kohanga Whanau – Breastfeeding Support

Our Aim We offer breast care and breastfeeding support from 36 weeks antenatal up to 7 months postnatal, to give babies the best start in life through breastfeeding.

Objectives We offer support and assistance in your home or at our local birthing unit by providing:

• Preparation for breastfeeding;
• Education and demonstration;
• Breastfeeding technique;
• Breastfeeding positioning and latching;
• Engorgement and care of the breast;
• Lactation information and resources;
• Expressing techniques;
• Expressing equipment.

Eligible Clients All whanau with tamariki 36 weeks antenatal to 7 months postnatal.
