Disability Support - Home Support

Our Aim Our aim is to maximise the highest quality of life and to assist whanau to live independently and to remain in their homes by providing household management and attendant care.

To respect the rights of individuals and ensure dignity and respect is kept at all times.

Guiding Principles: All staff operate under the guiding principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi:

  • KOTAHITANGA - United
  • WHANAUNGATANGA - Relationship, kinship
  • TIKANGA - Traditional customs, values & protocols
  • MANAAKITANGA - To care for, to respect

Objectives We can provide a range of care and support:

  • showering, shaving and toileting
  • laundry & ironing
  • household cleaning
  • shopping
  • Dressing
  • doctor's appointments
  • meal preparation.
We can arrange:
  • referral to our mobile nurse team if registered to Te Whare Hauora
  • carer support
  • occupational therapy
  • physiotherapy

Eligible Clients

  • To anyone who may have a Sensory, Physical, or Intellectual disability that is likely to continue for a minimum of six months resulting in a reduction of independent functioning where ongoing support is required.
  • This service is available for anyone with a disability or the aged that hold a community service card.

Support Worker

  • We encourage whanau to participate in their own care and wellbeing and that if their preferred support worker is whanau that is OK.
  • This service is delivered by approximately 120 part-time care workers who are have current First Aid Certificates, orientation and ongoing training, you have a choice of a support worker from our extensive pool.

How do I access this service?

  • You or any other person can apply for care on your behalf;
  • We arrange for a needs assessment and Home Support coordinator visit;
  • A trained needs assessor will contact you to see what support you need;
  • Whanau may be present if you wish.
