MAORI HEALTH LIAISON
Our Aim Takawaenga (Maori Health Liaison) offer a "Kia Ora Service" to Maori patients and their whanau who identify as Maori on admission to hospital. We provide cultural support to patients and whanau, as well as staff involved in their care. Our service is run in conjunction with similar programmes at Whangarei and Kaipara Hospitals.
Objectives
- Support with Karakia, Te Reo, Te Taha Tinana, Te Taha Wairua, Te Taha Hinengaro, Te Taha Whanau.

- Visit Maori patients and whanau and offer appropriate support.

- Liaise between staff, patient and whanau to accommodate individual cultural needs.

- Inform patients and their whanau of "patient rights" to service provision.

Eligible Clients All Maori patients admitted to Kaitaia Hospital.
