Kohanga Whanau – Maternity Support

Our Aim We offer intensive support to access maternity, health and social services from contraception up to 2 years postnatal. This service is for young at-risk mothers. Care, education and support following birth is also provided for these young mothers from deprived backgrounds.

Objectives

• Midwifery support;
• Tamariki Ora services referral;
• Breastfeeding kaiawhina referral;
• Antenatal and postnatal care with social issues;
• Car seat information and hire;
• Maintain confidentiality at all times;
• Provide pre and post natal support, advice and referral for education enabling positive parenting skills;
• Access to other organisations necessary to you and your child's needs;
• To ensure women receiving support services are culturally safe.

Eligible Clients We are a multidisciplinary team providing maternity services for all whanau, hapu and iwi in the far north.
